Goosechase at the Loop

                                                                Goosechase at the Loop
It was a freezing Thursday. We had a big mission for the window research. Gaby separated us for three teams –2 men, 9394 and JDH. Time was limited. Ati and I couldn’t wait to start, and we followed Ming and Omar’s steps. Firstly, we went to Randolph and State. Due to the low temperature, just had few people walking down the street. The first mission was done in several minutes, but my hands were already frozen. Ming and Omar disappeared when we were focusing on the project. Then, we walked down to Lake street toward south. We find a bizarre clothing store—Zuiem. Their window has different kind of shoes and skateboards which has displayed by ordering. It can catch your eyes immediately. They will show you the most popular product in season. For instance, Ripndip T-shirt, which is a having human-being feature cat for the main charter yet with some funny elements. Zuiem always has their own creation and concept on their window display. We also went to the Jewelry street by Wabash and Monroe. We picked the jewelry store with the hand drawing drafts. Compare to other stores which displayed diamond rings for the window, this store’s is very unique. However, Ati and I also met some difficulties. Her phone died in the low temperature and we were worried about the same situation happen on my phone. That made us in crisis. Fortunately, my phone was still working, and we could continue our missions. The research was difficult but meaningful for me. To facing the low temperature was challenge for 9394. However, I could learn the knowledge of window display, for catching pedestrian’s attention, identifying the brand and utilizing their dead space to create new function. The last thing I learn is that I truly understand how author felt and what the challenges on his job.

The Loop-Reflection

We had a wonderful field trip last Thursday walking through the Loop and observed what the store windows in Loop usually looks like. At first, we walked on the street and took a picture of busy pedestrians. Then we went to the body shop to took a picture of one of their products. It's was my first time went to the body shop and I didn't know what is it before I went. Add to this, we also visited a window of a store on state street and took a picture of it. It was so beautiful and attractive that made me want to go in and buy something. After that, I knew how important it is to have a nice store window. Moreover, we went shopping at H&M. We walked around and took a picture of one of the products. It's not expensive when you want to buy something at H&M. Finally, we went to a jewelry store. Near to the jewelry, we took a picture of their store window. We didn't go inside because the weather was so cold so we wanted to leave early.

Reflection: Mission Trip

Last Thursday, me and other two classmate had a mission to walk down to the State street from Lake to Adams street taking pictures. That day it was cold and windy, we spend time taking pictures from the store window. The most memorable was the body shop, once we walk into the shop it was full of lady stuff and in our head just want to hurry up finish the mission and go out. It was so embarrassing but they are so nice to us and ask us kindly what could she help us. Also the Anthropology store was kind of awkward. In the store it was full of lady cloths and three male students walk into the store. Everyone look at us but they didn't look us different, they treat us kind and welcome. Then we walk around the store and find the item that match our mission 50-60 US dollars . Unfortunately, we had found the item it took us few minutes to find it because everything on that store is expensive. Once we finish our mission we dismiss our team and went back home.

Mission Impossible

The last Thursday, we had a series of missions or tasks to complete under the cold of this city. It's not very common for me to do this kind of "Games". I enjoyed it despite the cold. I never had time to see the store windows because the hurry that I has to get to some place. I really liked a window in an art store, it was the only one I liked. When we had to enter on "Body shop" it was a bit embarrassing because there was no man there, and then we did not know what to tell to the employees. The Antropology store for me was interesting, there were many fancy things. That store gave me many ideas of what I can give this Valentin's Day. The cold made us to enter to Macy's, to get some heat. I could see that all the people walk in a hurry and they do not take the time to look at the things around them. Despite the cold I enjoyed this experience a lot. And maybe for the next activity we will go to more stores for men.

Second field trip reflection

Last Thursday, we had done with our second field trip. I have never done that before. I have noticed somethings I usually don’t pay attention to even though we were moving so quickly. When we walked in a body shop, there was no male inside except us. We felt uncomfortable. We searched our target immediately and left. Also, it was wired when we walked into Anthropology which sells handbags, dresses, rings, etc. Can you image how strange two men went into it. Moreover, I found something I would like to buy, like a pair of new Jorden shoes, few T-shirts and jackets in Forever 21. We viewed some jewelry stores, but unluckily I don’t have someone I can give a jewelry. The weather was chill, but our body was hot. We were doing a wonderful trip.

Field Trip Reflection

This field trip is the second time. It was different place and time, but it was fun the same as the first time. We used the GooseChase application for this field trip. It was so interesting. We worked like team, and each team had to find and learn about something that from the mission. This field trip, we learned about what allures people go into the store and buy something. I worked with Niki. She is one of my classmates. She is a nice friend. We followed the mission and walked to State Street. It was cold on that day, but it was okay. We walked very fast like other. We looked at the people who were walking and shopping. Also, when they were stopping for waiting the traffic light. Moreover, we surveyed a lot of stores looked at some stuff prices and thought about that people go into those stores. We saw the difference of store windows of each store and thought about something that makes people go inside the stores. I think the important thing that makes people go into the store in busy town areas is the store windows. Also, the reasons for making someone decide to buy something are price, promotion, modernity, and worth. After the field trip, Niki and I had a lunch at Thai restaurant together. Niki showed me a lot of places and talked about the city. She is very great. Thank you Niki, I had fun with you and thank you Gabriela for this chance.

Mission trip

Waking in a 20-degree weather was very harmful, but we made it. Our second-class field trip was fascinating and interesting. We did some missions, some was very easy because I knew already the street that we supposed to walk and take picture. Other was kind of shyness, because I was with another man. And we had both to go inside a body shop and observe product and prices. When we entered the store, everyone starts watching us wired. So, the first items we liked with the require price, we pick it up and took a picture of it. The second shyness we had was humorous, two student walking into a fancy woman store clothes. We spend time finding the perfect items we like with the indicate price. As soon as we got the picture we run out of the store. In the end we had too much fun doing those mission, hopefully we are the winner and we will get a reward.
